This publication has been developed on climate change and disaster management issues within the context of South Asia, and more particularly in India. It builds on the theme chosen by the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) for the world environment day, “Safeguard the environment for disaster risk reduction,” which reflects the pressing need for arresting environmental degradation and improving management of ecosystems and natural resources for achieving disaster risk reduction and adapting to climate risks. It is intended to be used as a reference for the local policy makers and planners, and in general for people at large who try to concise on challenges, issues and solutions for climate change – adaptation and integration with disaster risk management.
