Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) is a gender-sensitive approach to remove the barriers that inhibit girl’s educational experience, allowing them the dignity and confidence to participate in school during their menstrual cycle. Elevating the quality of programming to include holistic, gender-transformative strategies can be complex. This webinar will examine the program designs in two very different contexts to explore how they integrated Choices with Menstrual Health and WASH, and the lessons learned through innovative and comprehensive MEAL approaches that can be applied to projects to ensure that programs are gender transformative both in their design and continue to be transformative throughout the life of the project.

Featured speakers:

  • Girls’ Wellbeing, Menstrual Health and Gender Equality programming in Kyrgyzstan

Yuna Park, Assistant Manager, Education Team, International Programs, SC Korea

  • #WeSeeEqual Mexico: Gender Transformation in schools

Sofia Garza, Gender & Puberty Education Project Lead, SC Mexico

In recognition of Save the Children’s growing involvement in programming to address issues related to Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), the School Health and Nutrition (SHN) team, with support from the Child Sponsorship Innovation fund, initiated a series of webinars to focus on best practices and lessons learned around menstrual health and menstrual hygiene management. The goal is to promote evidence-based approaches and practices from global researchers, advocates, and implementers from within the Save the Children team and beyond.
