The research objectives of the project were:• To investigate and determine the nature of social work education (with a particular emphasis on developmental social work education) in Southern and East Africa • To generate tentative ideas for a regional indigenous social work education approach. The networking and relationship building objectives of this project were: • To establish an accurate list and supportive regional network of schools of social work functioning in Southern and East Africa, which can also be useful for the promotion of the Association of Schools of Social Work in Africa (ASSWA).
