Childhood and Migration in Central and North America: Causes, Policies, Practices and Challenges

This book analyzes the conditions for children and adolescents in Central and North America who are affected by migration. Every stage of the process is explored and analyzed, including their countries of origin, during transit, in destination countries, and following repatriation. Gaps in protection and in guaranteeing rights for children and adolescents are illuminated. The outcomes of this study reveal a complex, multi-faceted human dilemma that requires urgent attention and a fundamental paradigm shift.

Conclusions are made in the form of short-, medium-, and long-term regional, bilateral, national, and local solutions grounded in human rights. Findings are presented from a general perspective as well as on a country-by-country basis.
