Children who witness domestic violence are seldom given worthy consideration by the police and they do not get redress for grievances from the authorities. This is how the present report can be summarised. It clearly establishes that the police reports often do not take into consideration children who witness violence in the home. And this is an important claim. The research conducted by Save the Children Sweden indicates that when police filed reports of domestic violence in 2008, these did not contain information on the whereabouts of the child when the situation of violence occurred, resulting in criminal injuries compensation claims being denied to the applicant.
