A review of research on corporal punishment

This report draws heavily on Gershoff ’s seminal work “Corporal Punishment by Parents and Associated Child Behaviors and Experiences: A Meta-Analytic and Theoretical Review” published in a 2002 volume of the American Psychological Association’s Psychological Bulletin. Gershoff ’s selection criteria, exclusion criteria, and outcome categories are used in order to narrow the research to 88 of the highest-quality studies available.
