A report concerning Save the Children Sweden’s (SCS) activities in Origo, a home for unaccompanied child asylum-seekers in Skellefteå, in the north of Sweden. The Skellefteå municipal authority is the only municipality in the country that has signed an agreement with the Migration Board and, in 2003, opened a residential home for child asylum-seekers. A proposal is being studied which would require that the municipalities that sign agreements with the Migration Board assume the responsibility for the asylum-seeking children’s care and living conditions, and receive them on the basis of their needs and rights. The quoted testimonies of these separated refugee children reveal the trauma they have been through and how they are coping with the uncertainty of their future.
