Children make up roughly half of Pakistan’s population, making it one of the largest populations of children in the world. Yet Pakistan’s progress in safeguarding child rights through the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) continues to be disappointing.
This alternative report examines and provides supplementary information to Pakistan’s Fifth Periodic report to the Committee on the Rights of the Child in 2014. It is based upon a thorough desk review of reports, policies, assessments, etc., and a wide range of consultations with NGOs, key civil society representatives and children themselves.
