Led by the Women’s Refugee Council, this publication presents research begun in 2011 to document factors that promote and mitigate child marriage during conflict and displacement. These findings were used to generate recommendations to reduce the vulnerabilities of adolescents to child marriage.

The project sought to understand how traditional practices around child marriage are affected by conflict and what factors contribute to these practices. More specifically, it examined how perspectives on the age of marriage may change during conflict and what factors contribute to those decisions.

Four conflict-affected communities in Lebanon, Uganda, and Ethiopia took part in the study.
