This paper is part of a series of bridging papers looking at different points of the 5-year Action Plan for Collaboration from a child rights perspective. Diaspora associations are increasingly recognised as key actors in development largely due to the volume of remittances they send to their countries of origin. This paper specifically looks at the impact of remittances on children as many programmes directly target children of migrants and diaspora. Integration, support in school, and community activities are some of the many ways these associations contribute to the wellbeing of children in their countries of origin. This paper emphasizes that diaspora associations should be encouraged to think of their activities in terms of the impact they have in advancing children’s rights.
