This edition of Early Childhood Matters examines the lives of children of seasonal migrant workers across the globe, with particular studies from India, Mexico, USA, and Turkey. It explores the particular and unique challenges facing these children and how governments, communities, and NGOs can effectively meet them.

The problems and issues facing children of migrant families transcend national borders, they rely on unique solutions and cooperation. The complex, interwoven situation demands innovative and creative programmes – examples of which are presented and discussed in this publication.

Migrant seasonal workers are an almost invisible population and yet they exist in vast numbers. It is estimated that there are 5 million migrant workers in the USA, and in India their numbers reach hundreds of millions. The challenges and conditions they and their children face cannot, nor should be ignored.
