Broken Dreams: Central American children’s dangerous journey to the United States shares the obstacles and dangers that children and adolescents face as they journey to the United States.

UNICEF reports that in the first six months of 2016, almost 26,000 unaccompanied children were apprehended at the US border. Yet thousands never make it that far. Many are apprehended in Mexico, while others die in the harsh environment along the Mexico-US border and still more are missing.

Deputy Director Justin Forsyth of UNICEF states, “This flow of young refugees and migrants highlights the critical importance of tackling the violence and socio-economic conditions in their countries of origin.”
