Assessment Report by The Women’s Refugee Commission (WRC) from its mission to Kyaka II Camp in Kegegwa, Uganda, aimed to explore the relationship between the empowerment of adolescent refugee girls and the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV). This is the third in a three-country series of assessments (previous assessments were in Ethiopia and Tanzania) within WRC’s three-year global advocacy research project “Protecting and Empowering Displaced Adolescent Girls.” The report highlights findings from interviews with refugee adolescent girls and boys, parents, community leaders, camp-based program implementers as well as NGOs and coordinating agencies in Kampala. The report concludes with recommendations for various stakeholders to consider for programming for girls in the humanitarian context.
