Making arrangements for child contact in the context of domestic violence and other child welfare concerns is characterised by attempts to reconcile the principle of promoting a child’s relationship with a separated parent, with a recognition of the damaging consequences of domestic violence for women and children. The evidence from this research project suggests that this has resulted in ambiguity about levels of vigilance that may compromise the safety of some women and children.
