The study reveals that bullying is widespread and that corporal punishment is vastly prevalent as a justifiable form of punishment, often condoned by parents. It also reveals that sex for grades is common and rape is most likely to happen on the way to and from school.Recommendations from the report include raising awareness of existing legal structures and the responsibility of all to counter social stigma, strengthening of reporting systems and building institutional capacity to support any increase in people reporting incidents of violence, along with development of a comprehensive body of research. The report also suggests that Plan and other non-governmental organisations should monitor and record cases that emerge in project areas.
