One in Three: Internet Governance and Children’s Rights

At the time of this paper, the internet has existed for 25 years, 25 years after the UN General Assembly adopted the UN CRC, yet there is still little recognition of children’s rights by global internet governance even though children represent one in three internet users.

This paper seeks to inform future global internet governance deliberations in addressing children’s rights. It argues that the legal status of children below the age of 18 should be distinctly recognized and addressed.
