This first ever national study on violence against children in the Philippines used both quantitative and qualitative research methods to gather data on violence against children experienced in a range of situations and locations.

Specifically, the study sought to:

  1. Estimate the national prevalence of violence against children in various forms and settings;
  2. Enumerate the social and health consequences of violence against children
  3. Assess children’s awareness and utilization of health, legal and welfare services related to violence against children
  4. Obtain stakeholders’ views about violence against children including perceived reasons why it persists.

As it is the first ever study on violence against children in the Philippines, the results can be used as a scientific benchmark in developing proactive interventions to prevent violence against children, and to help child-victims overcome their experiences.
