Migration and Displacement of Children in Latin America and the Caribbean

During 2016-2017, 300,000 unaccompanied and displaced children from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala were detained in the United States. The migration is primarily due to violence and poverty in their home countries.

Save the Children is actively working in the region to help prevent causes of forced migration, strengthen child protection systems, and to advocate for the rights of migrant children.
