In April 2017, UNFPA collaborated with Save the Children to launch the Strengthening the National Midwifery Program (SNMP) (2017-2021) under the leadership of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOH&FW) to strengthen midwifery education and demonstrate the Midwife-led Model of Care (MLC), particularly at the Upazila Health Complexes (UHC). Under this initiative, Save the Children has supported the MOH&FW to implement focused project activities using funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC), Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), known as Department for International Development (DFID) at that time, and Swedish International Development Cooperation (SIDA) through UNFPA.

This brief describes the current status of the project, including its implementation approach, associated key activities, and some recent results.
