The Impact of Youth in Action on Youth, their Families, and Communities in Egypt
Youth in Action (YiA) is a six-year program that works to improve the socioeconomic status of out-of-school girls and boys between the ages of 12 and 18 in Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda, Malawi, and Burkina Faso. YiA does this by enhancing young people’s foundational and life skills, social assets, and knowledge, and by building key partnerships to help youth overcome barriers to their livelihood development including access to local markets and gender-based barriers.
In Egypt, YiA is working with girls and boys in two age groups (12-14 and 15-18) in rural communities in Assiut.
The purpose of this study is to understand how YiA has influenced youth socioeconomic status, the roles of youth at home and in the community, and community and family members’ perceptions and treatment of youth.
