Forced Migration Review

This issue of Forced Migration Review takes a closer look at the impact of the Syrian civil war. By August 2014, 6.45 million people were estimated to be displaced within Syria and 2.9 million exiled as refugees beyond Syria’s borders. These numbers represent approximately half of the entire Syrian population.

Each chapter in this issue examines a particular aspect of displacement of Syrian citizens. Refugee life in Lebanon and Jordan is investigated and presented. Individual chapters look at challenges facing both refugees and host populations. One chapter in particular examines the mental health of Syrian refugee children and adolescents who struggle with the traumas of being displaced, having been exposed to war-related trauma, and adjusting to life as a refugee.
