Developing and Influencing National Policy Guidelines to Reduce Unnecessary Cesarean Sections in Bangladesh

Over 300 million dollars are wasted in ‘unnecessary caesarian section’ deliveries in Bangladesh. In countries like Bangladesh where universal health coverage is yet to take a more structured form, these out of pocket expenses can push citizens into poverty. Through effective public participation, engagement of an wide array of partners, Save the Children has led to a court order for the Government to develop this unusual rise in c-section deliveries in Bangladesh.
