Det som ingen vill prata om - en rapport om att förebygga misshandel av spädbarn

A report by Save the Children Sweden on the Shaken Baby Syndrome and how to prevent cases of infant maltreatment. The report documents the fact that half the individuals who became parents in 2007-2008 had not been given information on how to calm a crying baby. Only 1/4 knew about the risks involved in shaking a baby. Six out of ten parents had never met a professional working in antenatal health care or child health care, who could have helped them deal with a crying infant and address the issue of maltreatment. There is a very real need to raise awareness about this issue. Nearly one in five parents confess to losing their temper when the baby is crying. However, doctors working in the field of child health care in municipalities across the country report that most new parents are informed about the risks of shaking a newborn baby.
