Community Case Management (CCM) in Humanitarian Settings: Global literature review

There have been several experiences with implementation of community management of childhood illnesses in emergencies, both in conflict settings and natural disasters. Yet to date, there has not been an effort to summarize the evidence. There is a need for greater understanding of experiences in implementing CCM/iCCM in this setting or about what adjustments need to be made to programs in humanitarian settings to ensure continued availability of drugs, acceptable quality of care, high utilization of services by the population, and strong linkages with the broader health system.

This literature review was conducted to contribute to a growing evidence base on implementation of CCM interventions in humanitarian settings with the goal of improving delivery of essential services to the most vulnerable populations.
