This Teacher’s Resource, produced by Save the Children Canada in 2006, is part of Save the Children’s five-year Rewrite the Future education initiative (2005-2010), which seeks to help millions of children in conflict-affected areas gain access to, and reap, the benefits of quality education. It is being made available to schools across Canada, to help inform and contextualise the effects of armed conflict on children. It provides educators with curriculum-relevant, factual, easy-to-facilitate activities to engage children and young people on this issue. This document focuses specifically on children living in Colombia, a country that has suffered 50 years of internal armed conflict, affecting millions across the country. Save the Children has been working with Colombian partner organisations and local and national governments since 1991 to improve access and quality of education for vulnerable children, youth and their families.
