BARN: Fathers matter! Nr 3, 2014

This edition of Save the Children Sweden’s quarterly magazine ‘Barn’ looks at fatherhood and the concept of ‘paternal instinct’. The Swedish edition briefly examines the situation of fathers in Sweden: what is parental leave and who uses it, what types of social or cultural stereotypes exist for fathers and mothers?

The experiences of one family shows the challenges facing those who decide to switch the roles of who stays home with the children and who pursues their career. Another article describes an Italian father’s experiences of being a ‘stay-at-home-dad’ in Sweden and how the blog he writes is a sensation in his native Italy.

The Short Edition English translation contains the articles depicting Save the Children’s work in Nepal and South Africa to foster positive masculinities and develop support groups.
