The Risk Assessment for Design Phase: Tool 2 of World Vision’s Disaster Risk Reduction Toolkit.
This tool is used to acquire a better understanding of the disaster risk issues which threaten both the community and the gains of development programmes and projects. It aims to assist Annual Development Programme (ADP) Managers and Field Staff responsible for conducting in-depth surveys to determine the nature and extent of disaster risk in the programme area. The survey is subsequently used as basis for developing disaster risk mitigation measures to protect the communities and increase their resilience. The Risk Assessment for Design Phase applies a qualitative approach. The result of the risk assessment is integrated into the LEAP (Learning through Evaluation with Accountability & Planning) design document; i.e. the narrative and log frame.
