The form and impact of migration have changed during the last decades, as the world has become more globalized. We have substantial amounts of information on migration and displacement globally at our disposal, but the very nature of migration in a globalized world means that its dynamics can be difficult to capture in statistical terms. While international migration patterns are related to social, economic and geopolitical processes, recent advances in international connectivity are opening up for greater diversity in migration processes.
The World Migration Report builds on the 2018 edition, by providing updated data on global and regional migration statistics as well as a descriptive analysis of complex migration issues.
