International Alert

International Alert presents an in-depth review of research conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Columbia, Lebanon and Nepal on the vulnerabilities of sexual and gender minorities (SGM) in peacebuilding and post-conflict settings. Gender identify and sexual orientation questions that do not adhere to heterosexual norms have been largely absent from gender and peacebuilding research, policy, and programme – hence the need for this research review and synthesis in crafting more gender-aware and gender-inclusive programmes.

After highlighting the multifarious vulnerabilities and needs faced by SGM individuals in peacebuilding contexts, Internal Alert presents a range of recommendations for the different actors in the peacebuilding sector.
