This study is a review of key theoretical perspectives and practices in relation to children’s and young people’s participation. The goal is to present and summarize a broad understanding of child participation practices by global experts in order to improve child participation practices with World Vision International and relevant partners.
The study consists of an extensive literature review of theories and models of children’s and young people’s participation, including a review of lessons learned. In addition, responses from a survey of key child participation experts from the UK and USA are analyzed and presented.
