USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project (MNCSP) in Bangladesh developed a customized mHealth SMS application visit reminder system based on the existing electronic Management Information System (eMIS). The project introduced a pilot initiative of this system in selected health facilities which demonstrated its efficiency in generating and delivering personalized SMS reminders to pregnant women registered in the eMIS. These reminders encouraged follow-up antenatal care (ANC), delivery, postnatal care (PNC), and postpartum family planning (PPFP) visits. Building on the success of the pilot, MaMoni MNCSP expanded the mHealth SMS system to additional upazilas.

To assess the system effectiveness, a quantitative assessment was conducted by icddr,b (International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh). This report presents a summary of the quntitative findings, shedding light on the outcomes of the mHealth intervention.
