In the context of low public sector capacity and growing healthcare demands in urban Bangladesh, private for-profit engagement is critical to achieve universal health coverage. This learning study explored efforts by USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project’s (MNCSP) project in Bangladesh to understand the drivers and determinants of current private sector engagement and identified opportunities for involving the private sector to deliver quality maternal and newborn health (MNH) services. In addition to a review of grey and published literature, primary data was collected through 22 key informant interviews (KIIs) with representatives from the government and private sector at national, district and sub-district levels.
