USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project’s (MNCSP) project in Bangladesh rolled out community microplanning (cMP) meetings in the community clinics of selected unions to help improve coordination and data reporting within catchment areas. The cMP meetings brought together frontline workers, community group (CG) members, and non-governmental organization representatives at community clinics, the closest health structure, to share information collected from their communities on eligible couples, pregnancies, births, and maternal and newborn deaths. The frontline workers used this information to update their registers and prepare a monthly action plan for service delivery.
This report documents implementation steps, strengths, opportunities, and challenges in rolling out CG-based cMP, and to see the effectiveness of the model in improving identification of potential maternal and newborn health service receivers and subsequent service utilization.
