In Bangladesh, isolated communities face daily challenges including severe discrimination, economic crisis, and a lack of health services and educational facilities, among others. Social and cultural practices in these underserved areas contribute to health practices that have a detrimental effect on health.
USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project’s (MNCSP) project in Bangladesh adapted existing service delivery approaches to reduce barriers to access and to improve maternal health services in selected remote and underserved areas. This report documents the effectiveness and lessons learned from the implementation of these alternate service delivery approaches.
