This learning study examined efforts by USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project’s (MNCSP) project in Bangladesh to establish a customized mHealth notification system in 2019 based on the e-MIS platform called Central mHealth Gateway in collaboration with the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP). It delivered one-way SMS (Short Message Service) text reminders for upcoming antenatal care (ANC), delivery, and postnatal care (PNC) visits of pregnant women who are registered in the e-MIS with mobile numbers and have had one initial visit to a union health and family welfare centers (UH&FWC) during their most recent pregnancy.The study aimed to assess the effect of an SMS mobile phone appointment reminder intervention for pregnant women in their use of maternal care services in selected public health facilities in Bangladesh.
