How can agencies like the World Food Programme (WFP) be sure that food assistance does not jeopardize the safety of the people they’re trying to help? This is the question asked by the authors of a new book exploring the measures WFP has taken to keep people safe while providing them with assistance.  The book examines the dilemmas, the potential, and the limits of mixing assistance and protection objectives in humanitarian crises. Chapters include case studies on Afghanistan, Pakistan, Darfur, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Colombia, Uganda, Haiti and West Africa.
