This document discusses the importance of home literacy or promoting reading opportunities outside of school for children’s learning.
It finds that children who have access to readers and opportunities to read outside of the classroom learn more than those who do not, and thus argues that international large scale assessments should take into account in their framing the importance of home and community enabling environments.
