Street Working Children was a three-year project from 2019 – 2021 in Nangharhar, Afghanistan. The project aimed to support excluded children, such as those with disabilities, those in poor families, and youth associated with harmful work on the street, allowing children to enjoy their rights and access better living opportunities to grow into adulthood. The Danish TV project had similar beneficiaries, activities, and geographical area to the SWC.
Both projects aimed to get children off the streets by supporting parents/caregivers through income-generating activities, such as grants, start-up tools, and the development of business plans. Additionally, children and youth were provided with skills training, and training was also provided to help raise awareness of the dangers of children working on the street to community members.
