Save the Children stands out as a leader in cash and voucher assistance (CVA) in Somalia, uniquely positioned to address the complex humanitarian challenges of vulnerable communities facing poverty and inequality. With an impressive operational volume averaging $22 million annually, we deliver impactful CVA programs across 16 regions, effectively reaching populations affected by floods, droughts, and conflict.

Our innovative approaches—such as Cash Plus for Nutrition, Cash Plus Parenting, Cash Plus Child Protection, Anticipatory Action, and referral-based social protection programs for maternal and child grants and disability benefits—set us apart from other actors. Through our membership in the Somali Cash Consortium, we leverage strategic partnerships to enhance the efficiency of our interventions, ensuring that aid reaches those in need when they need it most. In all contexts and across multiple sectors, Save the Children employs tailored strategies that address the specific challenges faced by diverse communities, enabling us to respond effectively to multiple emergencies. Our commitment to adaptability and collaboration fosters resilience and improves the livelihoods of children and families throughout Somalia.

By adopting CVA as a modality for delivering lifesaving assistance, we provide Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA), social transfers, cash for food, cash for work, commodity vouchers, and cash-plus activities. This comprehensive approach meets various multi-sectoral needs—such as WASH, food security, nutrition, health, and education—while preventing the development of negative coping strategies. Ultimately, our cash-based assistance is an effective, efficient, and transparent way
to support the most vulnerable populations impacted by crises and shocks.
