This article explores the socioeconomic dynamics of changing prevalence in female genital mutilation-cutting (FGM/C) across Africa. Among the findings is the suggestion that, as countries transition from higher to lower prevalence of FGM/C, the socioeconomic inequalities in FGM/C increase.
