Save the Children, through its offices in the United States and Colombia, recognizes that one of the greatest health challenges facing Colombia is identifying causal links between the effects of climate change and food security, as well as proposing solutions based on the needs and perceptions of key actors in socially and politically vulnerable areas, such as La Guajira and Buenaventura.
During the implementation of this initiative, government and community actors, as well as humanitarian organizations present in these territories, actively participated, allowing for a participatory and contextualized approach. The activities developed in 2024 were based on the progress made in 2023, in collaboration with SCUS, Knowledge Srl and Save the Children Colombia (SCC).
During this year, co-creation workshops were held using the Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) methodology, which made it possible to map the interactions between the social determinants of food security, climate change and other factors specific to each region. These exercises integrated the perceptions and needs of government, community and humanitarian actors, providing a solid basis for designing informed interventions.
