Action Pack 4 provides step-by-step guidance for Save the Children staff and partner staff from civil society and Ministries of Education to enhance knowledge, skills and behaviours among teachers and children to stay safe and be protected.
AP4 contains a collection of 11 scripted Teacher Training Modules (linked on the right) that include guidance for self-directed learning and teacher learning circles aiming to enhance teachers’ capacities across the Teacher Competency Summary. AP4 also contains guidance on selecting and implementing Children’s Activities, including the introduction of classroom curricula, working with children’s clubs or informal learning activities.
You can select and adapt the teacher modules and children’s activities based on the needs in your context and the existing TPD programmes you already have in place. We recommend that you start by reviewing the Two Page Overview of Action Pack 4, as well as the longer Guidance Note for Action Pack 4 that will provide you with background on some of the theory and practice of Teacher Professional Development (TPD) for Safe Schools, as well as some recommended steps for implementation.P4 also includes a set of tools to support you – including the Safe Schools Teacher Competency Booklet and the Assessment Tool.
We hope you find the teacher modules and children’s activities that are most suitable and needed in your context. If you have any feedback or needs for support in how to use this Action Pack, please contact the Safe Schools helpdesk: safeschoolscommonapproach@savethechildren.org.
This Common Approach is a collaboration between Child Protection and Education Themes. For more information, please contact Sarah Morgan, Safe Schools Common Approach Lead, or Bianca Gallagher , Program Officer, Safe Back to School & Learning – Program, Quality and Impact.
