Save the Children Turkey
This study examines the situation of out-of-school children and children at risk of dropping out in earthquake-affected areas of Türkiye. The study explores patterns of school exclusion and disengagement, while identifying the key economic, psychosocial, and structural barriers that affect children’s access to and continuity in education. It further investigates the learning and socio-emotional impacts experienced by children following the earthquake and seeks to understand the lived experiences and perspectives of children, caregivers, educators, and other relevant stakeholders. Drawing on these findings, the research aims to generate evidence-based policy and programmatic recommendations to strengthen school participation, retention, and inclusive educational support for vulnerable children in affected communities.
