This report presents the findings of a regional study on children’s participation in Southern Africa.
The study documented initiatives to promote children’s participation and identified elements of
good practice as well as barriers to meaningful participation, with a particular focus on South
Africa, Swaziland and Zambia. It explored the opportunities for and challenges to building on
achievements and lessons to date. The findings and feedback from stakeholders form the basis
for recommendations on how Save the Children can play a strategic role in strengthening and
promoting children’s participation in the coming years.
