Save the Children
This report from Save the Children highlights the critical role that children play in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Save the Children believes that although children are vulnerable, they have the potential to effectively communicate risks and act as agents of change; they are capable of actively participating in the decision-making processes that will ultimately affect them, their families and the wider community.
This updated document describes Save the Children’s approach to disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA), classifying DRR and CCA work into five main categories: (i) early warning activities, (ii) preparedness; (iii) mitigation activities, (iv) activities to promote resilience, and (v) activities that support communities’ adaptive capacity to predicted climate change trends. Other focus areas include advocacy and policy, institutional capacity and strengthening, and community.
