As little is known about practices related to newborn hypothermia in rural Africa, this study sought to characterize relevant practices, attitudes, and beliefs in rural Zambia.
By building an understanding of community-based practices on hypothermia prevention and management, newborn survival could be improved in resource-limited settings. The study identifies possible interventions, including the use of skin-to-skin care, low-cost newborn warmers, and building family support systems.
