Produced by ICF International with support from USAID, this publication uses data from the Demographic Health Surveys Program (DHS) to estimate the prevalence, different parts, and combinations of vulnerability for children aged 0-17. Data was examined from 70 different countries between 2000 and 2014 and was cross-analyzed with estimates from the U.N. Population Division. Four components of vulnerability, as identified by UNICEF, were used as the baseline for data aggregation:
By identifying countries with the highest combined prevalence of vulnerability, it is hoped that these estimates will be used to assess the need for assistance and the coverage of programmes.
