Save the Children Norway

This report looks at the status of corporal punishment at school in Nepal. The report finds that, like in some other countries, corporal punishment of children at school in Nepal is not a new thing. It is deeply rooted in tradition.

Facilitated by Save the Children and undertaken by Hatemalo Child Club, this study brings together and analyzes children’s incites and experiences of physical punishment in schools. Children’s feelings and thoughts about school, their teachers, and the physical punishment they receive are intended to inform better policy to change these practices so that children can enjoy a safe, non-violent life at school.
