Times of economic uncertainty, civil unrest and crisis are linked to a number of risk factors for increased violence against women and children. Pandemics are no exception. The regional and global nature and associated fear and uncertainty during pandemic create an enabling environment that can increase or spark certain forms of violence.
This paper was created by the Gender and COVID-19 Working group and explores nine main pathways linking pandemics with violence against women and children.
