Outcome Assessment Report: New Zealand Disaster Response Partnership (Bangladesh, 2024)

The New Zealand Disaster Response Partnership project aimed to deliver inclusive, equitable, and high-quality primary health care services to Rohingya refugees and vulnerable host communities in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Implemented between January and July 2024, the project operated through two Health Posts in Camp 4 (Ukhiya) and Camp 27 (Teknaf), in alignment with the Government of Bangladesh’s Minimum Package of Essential Health Services (MPEHS) and the Joint Response Plan’s strategic health objectives. The intervention provided direct clinical services—including primary health care, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), nutrition, rehabilitation, and referral services—to 21,975 beneficiaries, with a strong focus on children, adolescents, women of reproductive age, and persons with disabilities. Complementary community-based outreach by trained community health and mental health workers strengthened health awareness, early identification, and referrals. The project emphasized accessibility, child-sensitive and disability-inclusive service delivery to enhance wellbeing and community resilience.
